HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope you enjoy our collection of beautiful handwoven rugs in various colors and sizes. This rug measures W70 x L130 cm and can be used as a runner in your home or summer cottage.
The rug is naturally dyed and handwoven from two different colors of jute thread. It is handmade in accordance with global fair trade principles and takes three to four hours to weave.
When you buy a handwoven rug, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women receive a fair wage and also help preserve and develop an age-old craft tradition.
The rug is predominantly (about 90 percent) made from jute, a natural fiber. The fiber is extracted from the bark of the jute plant and undergoes an extensive processing sequence before it becomes a finished jute or jute/cotton product.
Because the products are handmade, no two items are ever exactly the same. We hope you will appreciate the small unique details and the stories behind the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy your product for many years to come.
