HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope you enjoy our collection of beautiful handwoven rugs in a variety of colors and sizes. This rug measures B60 x L90 cm and can be used as a doormat or as a mat elsewhere in your home or summer house.
The rug is handwoven from jute twine. It is handmade based on global fair trade principles and took approximately four hours to weave.
When you buy a handwoven rug, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women receive fair wages and help preserve and develop an age-old craft tradition.
The rug is predominantly (about 90 percent) made of jute, which is a natural fiber. The fiber is extracted from the bark of the jute plant and undergoes an extensive processing procedure before it becomes a finished jute product. Jute is an environmentally friendly material because the jute plant requires very little water.
Because the products are handmade, no two items will ever be exactly the same. We hope you will appreciate the small unique details of the products and their story as much as we do — and we hope you enjoy your product for many years to come.
