HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope that the colors and patterns on this beautiful, unique bedspread will create lots of joy and coziness in your new home. The carpet is 240 x 260 cm. It has a different and almost artistic pattern on each side. You can therefore change the expression by simply turning it over. Use it as a decorative and beautiful bedspread.
The rug consists of four layers of vintage cotton sarees. It is hand stitched with uniform visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special way of embroidery and is a centuries-long tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The carpet is sewn under proper working conditions and based on global fair trade principles. It has taken approximately 18 hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a kantha rug, you help ensure proper, meaningful and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company, where they receive a fair salary, annual bonus (dividend) and professional training.

Details
This rug is made from vintage cotton sarees, which means the product has a history.
The saris have previously been worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means that the carpets are not perfect and may have minor stains and patches on them.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly alike, because the products are handmade. We hope that you will appreciate the little features of the products and their history as much as we do – and we hope that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend that you wash the rug as little as possible to protect the rug and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Please use a gentle washing program
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry clean
As the carpet comes from Bangladesh, where there is very high humidity and has had a long transport time, the carpet may need to be aired. In that case, we recommend that you either wash it or hang it out in the fresh air and generally just give it a few days to acclimatize and settle into its new home (country)😊
