HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colors and patterns of this beautiful one-of-a-kind bedspread will bring lots of joy and coziness to its new home. The bedspread measures 240 x 260 cm. It has a different, almost artistic pattern on each side, so you can change the look simply by turning it over. Use it as a decorative, beautiful bedspread.
The bedspread is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-sewn with even visible stitches, known as kantha stitches. Kantha is a special form of embroidery and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The bedspread is sewn under proper working conditions and based on global fair-trade principles. It took about 18 hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a kantha bedspread, you help ensure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and vocational training.

This bedspread is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the bedspreads are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same, because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the small quirks and the story of each piece as much as we do — and that you will enjoy it for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the bedspread as little as possible to protect the item and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash program
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry clean
As the bedspread comes from Bangladesh, where humidity is very high and it has had a long transport time, the bedspread may need airing. If so, we recommend either washing it or hanging it out in the fresh air and generally giving it a couple of days to acclimatize and settle into its new home (country)😊
