HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colours and patterns of this beautiful one-of-a-kind rug will bring lots of joy and cosy moments to its new home. The rug measures 120 x 200 cm. It has a different, almost artistic pattern on each side, so you can change the look simply by turning it over. Use it as a warm blanket, as a decorative throw on the sofa, or as a beautiful bed runner.
The rug is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with uniform visible stitches called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special embroidery technique and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The rug is sewn according to global fair trade principles and took about 10 hours to stitch by hand.
When you buy a kantha rug, you help secure decent, meaningful and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend) and professional training.

Details
This rug is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the rugs are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly alike, because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the items' small quirks and their story as much as we do — and we hope you will enjoy it for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the rug as little as possible to protect both the rug and our planet:
- Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash cycle
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry clean
