HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colors and patterns of this beautiful one-of-a-kind rug will bring plenty of joy and coziness to its new home. The rug measures 200 x 200 cm. It features a different, almost artistic pattern on each side. You can change the look simply by flipping it. Use it as a rug to keep you warm, as a decorative throw on the sofa, or as a beautiful bedspread.
The rug is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with uniform visible stitches called kantha stitches. Kantha is a distinctive form of embroidery and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The rug was sewn under proper working conditions and based on global fair trade principles, and it took approximately 15 hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a kantha rug, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and vocational training.

Details
This rug is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the rugs are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly alike because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the small unique details and the story behind the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the rug as little as possible to protect the rug and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash cycle
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry-clean
