HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colours and patterns of this one-of-a-kind kantha cushion will bring lots of joy and cosy comfort to its new home. The cushion measures 60 x 60 cm and includes a lovely insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with even visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special form of embroidery and is a century-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The cushion is sewn in line with global fair trade principles and took about four hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful and dignified jobs for marginalised women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend) and vocational training.

This cushion is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, no two products will ever be exactly the same because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the products' little quirks and their story as much as we do — and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash programme
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry clean
