We hope the colors and patterns of this one-of-a-kind kantha silk cushion will bring plenty of joy and warmth to its new home. The cushion measures 60 x 60 cm and includes a plush cushion insert filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage saris. It is hand-stitched with even visible stitches known as kantha stitches. Kantha is a special embroidery technique and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The cushion is made according to global fair trade principles and takes about four hours to hand-sew.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and vocational training.

This cushion is made from vintage saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were once worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two items that are exactly alike because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the little unique details and the story of the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Hand wash
- Use a gentle wash cycle
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry clean
