The cosmetic bag is made from deadstock, meaning surplus textiles. It is quilted and lined with GOTS certified organic cotton. The cosmetic bag is hand-embroidered with inspiration from Kantha stitching. Kantha is a centuries-old tradition of embroidery native to Bangladesh and India. The cosmetic bag is made by women artisans, based on fair trade principles, and has taken approximately two hours to create.
Every purchase empowers women at a social enterprise in Bangladesh. It provides safe and dignified jobs for disadvantaged women. The women receive fair wages, yearly dividends, on the job training and capacity building.
This cosmetic bag was developed in collaboration between Celine Hemmingsen and the women at Saidpur Enterprises in Bangladesh. Celine was a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Design and an intern at Manelleh in the spring of 2024.

Details
This cosmetic bag is made from deadstock. Essentially, deadstock is leftovers - surplus from a fashion brand or textile mill’s production process due to overproduction, quality issues, or small flaws. In this case it is made from leftover fabrics at Saidpur Enterprises.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the most recognized global standard for the processing of organic fibers. The standard is supported by an independent third-party certification and is a guarantee of compliance with a wide range of environmental and social criteria throughout the supply chain. Textiles that are GOTS certified must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic fibres.
As with all handmade and small batch items, no two pieces are exactly the same. We hope you will enjoy and celebrate these variations as much as we do.

We recommend washing the cosmetic bag as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:

- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry clean
