Each large pillow is hand-stitched with uniform visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special way of embroidery and is a centuries-long tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The Kantha tradition is also very meaningful because it is about giving new life to something old, and the beautiful colors and patterns on the cushions turn them into small unique works of art, which create a fantastic atmosphere and decoration in the home or summer house.

The story behind the special pillows

If you buy a large pillow from Manelleh, you will not only get a beautiful, but also a unique pillow. There are only a few of each type of pillow because there is a limit to how many pillows can be made from one sari. A sari is a piece of cloth that has traditionally been worn by women in e.g. Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal. It can be an heirloom passed down from generation to generation and used on special occasions or a garment worn every day.

Each large pillow thus has one history, in that they are made from beautiful old saris that have been upcycled and given a new life. This also means that the cushions are not "perfect" and may have minor stains and patches on them. Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly alike, because the products are handmade. The mounting pad inside a large pad

When you buy a large pillow, a 1st class mounting pad is included Ringsted Dun. The pillow consists of new duck down and the fabric is made of 100% cotton cleaned of chemicals. The pillow is produced in Denmark based on Danish craftsmanship and with respect for the environment and animal welfare. It is hypoallergenic, free of harmful chemicals and has the following certifications: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® Product class 1, NOMITE, Downafresh® Greenline.
