HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colors and patterns of this unique kantha silk cushion will bring lots of joy and coziness to its new home. The cushion measures 40 x 40 cm and includes a lovely insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage saris. It is hand-stitched with even visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special form of embroidery and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The cushion is sewn according to global fair-trade principles and took about three and a half hours to hand-stitch.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and professional training.

Details
This cushion is made from vintage saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same because the items are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the little quirks and the story behind the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy it for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
