HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colors and patterns of this unique kantha pillow will bring plenty of joy and coziness to its new home. The pillow measures 50 x 50 cm and includes a luxurious insert filled with new duck down.
The pillow is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with even, visible stitches called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special embroidery technique and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The pillow is sewn based on global fair trade principles and took about three and a half hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a pillow, you help ensure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and professional training.

This pillow is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product carries a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the pillows are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same because the items are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the little quirks and the history of the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the pillow as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash cycle
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry clean
