HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colors and patterns of this unique kantha cushion will bring lots of joy and cozy moments to its new home. The cushion measures 50 x 50 cm and includes a lovely insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with even visible stitches known as kantha stitches. Kantha is a special form of stitching and is a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The cushion is sewn following global fair trade principles and took about three and a half hours to hand-stitch.
When you buy a cushion, you help ensure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and vocational training.

This cushion is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the small unique features and the story behind the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash cycle
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry-clean
