HAND MADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope that the colors and patterns of this beautiful unique rug will create lots of joy and coziness in its new home. The carpet is 100 x 200 cm. It has a different and almost artistic pattern on each side. You can therefore change the expression by simply turning it over. Use it as a warm blanket, as a decorative throw on the sofa or as a beautiful bed runner.
The rug consists of four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand stitched with uniform visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special way of embroidery and is a centuries-long tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The rug is sewn based on global fair trade principles and took approximately 10 hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a kantha rug, you help ensure proper, meaningful and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company, where they receive a fair salary, annual bonus (dividend) and professional training.

Details
This rug is made from vintage cotton sarees, which means the product has a history.
The saris have previously been worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means that the carpets are not perfect and may have minor stains and patches on them.
Also, no two products will ever be exactly alike, because the products are handmade. We hope that you will appreciate the little features of the products and their history as much as we do – and we hope that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend that you wash the rug as little as possible to protect the rug and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Please use a gentle washing program
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry clean
