HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope you enjoy our collection of beautiful handwoven rugs in a variety of colors and sizes. This rug measures B70 x L130 cm and can be used as a runner in your home or summer house.
The rug is naturally dyed and handwoven from two different shades of jute twine. It is handmade following global fair-trade principles and took three to four hours to weave.
When you buy a handwoven rug, you help provide decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women receive a fair wage and help preserve and develop an age-old craft tradition.
The rug is made predominantly (about 90 percent) of jute, a natural fiber. The fiber is extracted from the bark of the jute plant and undergoes an extensive processing before it becomes a finished jute or jute/cotton product.
Because the products are handmade, no two items will ever be exactly the same. We hope you will appreciate the little quirks and the story behind each product as much as we do — and we hope you will enjoy your product for many years to come.
