HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colours and patterns of this unique kantha cushion will bring lots of joy and coziness to its new home. The cushion measures 50 x 50 cm and includes a luxurious insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with uniform visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special form of embroidery and is a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The cushion is sewn with a commitment to global fair trade principles and took around three and a half hours to sew by hand.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend) and professional training.

This cushion is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the products' small quirks and their story as much as we do — and that they bring you joy for many years to come.
Care
We recommend that you wash the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle cycle
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry-clean
