HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope that the colors and patterns of this one-of-a-kind kantha cushion will bring plenty of joy and coziness to its new home. The cushion measures 50 x 50 cm and includes a lovely insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with uniform visible stitches called kantha stitches. Kantha is a special way of embroidering and is a centuries-old tradition originating in Bangladesh and India. The cushion is sewn in line with global fair trade principles and has taken about three and a half hours to hand-stitch.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and skills training.

This cushion is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. That means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the small quirks and the stories behind these products as much as we do – and that you will enjoy it for many years to come.
Care
We recommend that you wash the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle cycle
- Iron at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry-clean
