HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colors and patterns on this one-of-a-kind kantha cushion will bring plenty of joy and coziness to its new home. The cushion measures 50 x 50 cm and includes a luxurious insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage cotton saris. It is hand-stitched with uniform visible stitches, called kantha stitches. Kantha is a distinctive embroidery technique and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and India. The cushion is sewn in line with global fair trade principles and took about three and a half hours to hand-stitch.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful, and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend), and professional training.

This cushion is made from vintage cotton saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same because the items are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the small quirks and the story of the products as much as we do — and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Machine wash at max. 30°C
- Preferably use a gentle wash program
- Iron at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry, or dry clean
