HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH
We hope the colours and patterns of this one-of-a-kind kantha silk cushion will bring lots of joy and coziness to its new home. The cushion measures 60 x 60 cmA0and includes a luxurious insert cushion filled with new duck down.
The cushion is made from four layers of vintage saris. It is hand-stitched with even, visible stitches, known as kantha stitches. Kantha is a special embroidery technique and a centuries-old tradition originally from Bangladesh and Indien. The cushion is sewn according to global fair trade principles and took about four hours to stitch by hand.
When you buy a cushion, you help secure decent, meaningful and dignified jobs for marginalized women in Bangladesh. The women work for a socially responsible company where they receive a fair wage, an annual bonus (dividend) and vocational training.

This cushion is made from vintage saris, which means the product has a history.
The saris were previously worn by women in Bangladesh. They have now been upcycled and given a new life. This means the cushions are not perfect and may have small stains and patches.
Likewise, there will never be two products that are exactly the same, because the products are handmade. We hope you will appreciate the products' small quirks and their story as much as we do—and that you will enjoy them for many years to come.
Care
We recommend washing the cushion as little as possible to protect the product and our planet:
- Hand wash only
- Use a gentle wash program
- Can be ironed at medium temperature
- Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry clean
