Maria Manel Bøge founded the company Manelleh with a clear purpose: to help women in Bangladesh obtain a dignified job and thereby gain freedom. It has now been three years, and today she is well on her way, expanding the online business with sales to retailers.
Three years ago we did an interview for Designbase at the kitchen table; today it takes place in a combined showroom, office and warehouse on Islands Brygge, where Maria runs her business from and where she has reached the point of being able to hire a salesperson and an intern.
"When I started Manelleh, the guiding principle was 'every little bit counts.' Today it is a business that ensures more than 50 women in Bangladesh have steady employment and thus the opportunity for a better life," Maria says.
